P.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2039

Medication Changes:
  • Gave her a 325 mg acetaminophen tablet at breakfast because of her arterial temp and a complaint of minor "stiffness".
  • Put Debrox in her ears before bed, ten drops per ear
  • Used diphenhydramine cream underneath her breasts and on a couple of spots on her back that looked like minor insect bites but that she couldn't stop scratching.
Dinner:  Toasted tuna sandwich on sourdough bread lightly brushed with margarine for toasting; tuna included chopped onions, celery, dill pickle relish and enough mayonnaise to glue it all together; pickled asparagus spears (no sugar in pickling brine); 1 home made pumpkin/dried cherry/pecan muffin.
Miscellaneous Observation:
  • Because her ears were so badly plugged up tonight and her coughing, while still regular and productive, has decreased noticeably in the past few days and, as well, her temp was slightly up this "morning", I took her arterial temperature when she awoke from her nap and before she went to bed. At 2042 it was 99.0. At 0042 it was 99.7.
  • The high carb content of her dinner, tonight, coupled with her slightly high blood glucose before dinner, probably because the ham we had this morning for breakfast was sugar cured (it usually isn't), caused me to consider taking her blood glucose before bed to determine whether a third glipizide was in order. I decided against it, since her diabetes isn't critical and this will give me an opportunity to see, overnight, how well her body is continuing to perform as far as taking up glucose is concerned.
