Dinner:  Pork Ribs from Costco, scraped off their sauce and put on my own, which is lower in sugar and higher in the eccentric flavors my mother and I like; corn on the cob with margarine, salt and my 5-pepper blend.
    Miscellaneous Observations:
  • I'm noticing that no matter how high my mother's blood glucose is in the morning, after only one glipizide with or before breakfast her evening glucose comes in so low that at least once in the last week it has been a touch below "normal"; yesterday; I gave her 8 oz of O.J. immediately after her nap to raise it a bit and, still, this morning, even after dessert (which merited a second glipizide), her blood glucose came in astonishingly well. On a long term basis I'm negotiating this new quirk by increasing the amount of orange juice in her O.J./water/Benefiber blend. This seems to be doing the trick, although I don't think I've reached the optimum O.J. level, yet. I think, on days when her sleeping is decreased, I might try adding a light lunch somewhere between breakfast and dinner, if I can.
  • It didn't take much to get her back to a decent daily dehydration and elimination schedule after she returned from the rehab facility. Well, except for the facts that I keep after her regarding getting her fluids down; make sure she gets 6 tsps (yes, we're back to that amount) of Benefiber in the morning; pay attention to the amount of fiber in her diet; and, as well, without much effort she moves more than she did at the facility even considering that she was doing rehab there. Can you imagine how much it would cost if "sniffs" actually paid attention to these things? That's the sadness of it all. Because of the way "sniffs" are managed, it would cost way too much.
