Medication Changes:
  • Gave Mom 325 mg acetaminophen with breakfast because of her temperature measurement, which is higher than normal for her.
  • Kept her on 5/lpm O2 until 1620 this afternoon because she was a bit breathless even when sitting. Put her back on 5/lpm when sitting at 1715 when I noticed that she was showing signs of breathlessness, again ("kecking" frequently, breathing fast), I asked her if she felt breathless and she confirmed, "A little". She got her normal 2nd breathing treatment at 1730.
  • I've been noticing light edema in her feet for a couple of days. It continues today. Her BP has been unusually high, both systolic & diastolic, for two days, now, too. When her breathlessness didn't seem to be completely relieved with the breathing treatment and the 5/lpm O2, I examined her for other signs of fluid retention: Fuller than usual face, fuller than usual belly, etc. None seemed extraordinary but, on a hunch, I decided to give her 10 mg furosemide at 1805, just before she went down for a nap.
Bowel Movement:  Occurred during bathing. Very good volume; very good consistency; easy elimination; very easy clean-up.
Dinner:Appetizer dinner, again, with souped up potato salad and three Ghiradelli chocolate squares for dessert.
Sleep:
  • Awoke of own accord at 1330
  • Went down for nap at 1815
  • Awoke from nap of own accord at 2000
  • Down for night at 0000
  • Awake 8.75 hours
